PYROSTAR™, a FUJIFILM Wako Chemicals U.S.A. Corporation brand, specializes in reagents, instruments and accessories necessary to detect bacterial endotoxins in different environments. Using the LAL method, a reliable test to detect lipopolysaccharides of gram-negative bacteria origin, PYROSTAR™ products are used in quality control of drug production lines, medical devices, and food and water products.
The PYROSTAR™ LAL has been developed to inhibit the interference of (1 → 3)-β-D-glucan, by making an excessive amount of (1 → 3)-β-D-glucan (carboxymethylated curdlan) coexistent in the reaction system. Thus, the activation of LAL reagent by β-glucan is inhibited, enabling endotoxin specific detection.
This feature eliminates the need to add beta glucan blockers into the solution, thus decreasing the variability of PYROSTAR™ LAL.
PYROSTAR™ LAL is a sensitive method for the detection of bacterial endotoxins currently approved by the FDA, and is available as a gel-clot assay, a Kinetic Turbidimetric Assay (KTA), and a Kinetic Chromogenic Assay (KCA).
